From the founder

I got tired of training for my health in clothes made of plastic.

So I built the alternative I couldn't find.

The contradiction

I spend most of my life trying to stay healthy. Train, eat well, sleep, the ordinary work of it. At some point I noticed the contradiction sitting right against my skin. The clothes I trained in were plastic. Polyester, nylon, elastane. Synthetic from the inside out, shedding microplastics into me while I worked to keep everything else clean. Once I saw it, I couldn't unsee it.

The turn

So I went looking for the natural version and found out it barely exists. Performance wear moved to plastic years ago because plastic is cheap and easy, and we were told it was an upgrade. I don't think it was. I think staying close to the materials we actually came from is part of staying human, and we gave that up without noticing.

That's what PRFORM is. Not a clothing brand that happens to use wool. A simple position: choosing what's natural is a way of choosing what's human, and the two were never separate.

The standard

It's why the rules are strict. Everything is 100% merino wool. Not 95% with a little nylon for stretch, not a blend that looks better on a spec sheet. The manufacturers offered, more than once. I said no every time, because the moment you let 5% plastic back in, you've lost the thing the brand exists for.

And it's a system, not a single product. A better shirt doesn't help if you wear a synthetic one under it, or train in plastic shorts. So the first run is three pieces. The quarter zip, the tee, the boxer. Enough to actually leave synthetic behind, not just gesture at the idea.

Who it's for

PRFORM isn't for everyone, and I'd rather it stayed that way. It's for the person who already feels the contradiction I'm describing and wants out of it. If that's you, you probably didn't need much convincing. If it isn't, no hard feelings.

Where to go next

I'm building this slowly, in the open, on purpose. If you want the full reasoning on the material, it's on the material system. If you want the rest of the thinking behind the brand, it's in the about section. Either way, I'm glad you came this far in.
